Corning ALTOS cable — surplus reels

ALTOS is Corning’s gel-free loose tube outside-plant family, and it is the most liquid cable on the surplus market — every crew knows it, every distributor stocks it, and a tagged ALTOS reel sells faster than anything else we handle.

Reading an ALTOS reel

The jacket legend carries the series, fiber count and sequential footage marks; the reel tag repeats it with the part number and date code. Between the two you can price a reel without unspooling anything.

ALTOS comes dielectric and in armored variants — the armored version is the one you want for direct bury, and it prices higher. Gel-free construction is the selling point for crews: faster prep, no flooding compound to clean.

Because ALTOS is so liquid, condition discipline pays. A tagged, sealed, full factory reel of ALTOS gets our strongest number. The same footage in short ends with no tags gets a cautious one.
